Local flavour means so much more to us than just a catchy slogan. Local flavour is something we live by. The key ingredients to our menu items are all local, generally within 100kms of Brandon. We proudly serve beef and bison that were raised right here in western Manitoba. It is the freshest and the finest there is. Our tomatoes, onions, potatoes etc are also grown locally. Our buns come from Brandon's busiest & finest bakery, Kuipers. They are soooo "local" their entrance is within 20 feet of our entrance! We're next door neighbours, here on 1st Street. This means that you could be eating a bun that has just been out of the oven for mere hours. There is no "chain burger" that can say that!

Local flavour also means that we use local contractors & trades people. When we renovated last year, our painter, plumber, electrician, carpenter, sign maker, printer and flooring specialist all came from the neighborhood. In fact, they all live or work within 10kms of our restaurant! They've each also become regular customers of ours. Go ahead... ask me how they like their burgers.

Our Vintage Style is local as well. The tables and chairs were manufactured in Manitoba. The 1960s jukebox is a Rock-ola, and while it wasn't made in Manitoba, the founder of the Rock-ola company was born and raised in Virden Manitoba. (45 minutes west of Brandon.)

We proudly support a local high school football team and regularly sponsor activities at the local schools. Last year we contributed, with the generous help of our suppliers and customers, several hundred dollars to the local MS and Cancer Society fundraisers.

Our business also invests in the local youth. We have hosted work experience students in addition to hiring and training some of the finest future leaders. We retain our staff by offering a safe, respectful and enjoyable workplace. We encourage their families to get to know us by offering a generous family discount and often use them as our "tasters" as we create new products. And while we don't chastise our staff for making mistakes... we do make them eat the evidence! (As if ice cream could ever be a MISTAKE???!!!)

The last word about our ice cream... It's the REAL DEAL. It's not "ice milk". And it's not "soft serve" powder. Real dairy, served cold and rich. At Tastee's you can customize your ice cream treat. Say you want our Candy Mountain with double smarties and no crispy crunch... no problem. Or what if you want cone dip on your sundae instead of hot fudge... no problem. Two spoons... sure, why not. And did you know we have CHOCOLATE soft ice cream too? It's fantastic. No extra charge if you want your strawberry sundae made with chocolate or swirl instead. Just ask! We also have a nice variety of signature treats that were created by us, named by us, photographed by us and served all the time, by us. The Touchdown Treat (created for our football team) is hot fudge, hot caramel and Skor candy layers between vanilla ice cream and topped with real whipped cream (no fake anything here) and more Skor. Or, the treat the boss likes the best... The FALKO FLURRY. It's named after one of the coolest radio DJs to ever grace the Brandon airwaves. The Falko is swirl ice cream, peanut butter, bananas & oreo. We also think Elvis Presley would have loved it! Oh yeah, and ask about the Banana 767 when you stop in. It's the "jumbo jet" of banana splits. If you want to tackle that one, you may want to assemble a team to help!
